For several reasons, it's not practical for me to build an antenna. I've read many posts on how to, but I'd really just like to buy an antenna, attach it to my roof, connect it, and get "good" reception. I live on top of a mountain with unobstructed views almost 360 degrees, overlooking the ocean.
I've tried searching for 1090Mhz ADS‑B receiver antennas and of course there are many. And they clearly require me to answer a few questions:

Hopefully I can get a couple of straightforward recommendations or links to amazon or something. Apologies if I blow a fuse on the home hobbyists that eschew ready-made over hand-made.
To my ignorant eye, these ones seem "ok", but it's likely I don't have the knowledge of others in this forum and I'd prefer to not buy a dud if I can be pointed in the right direction. Thanks!

I've tried searching for 1090Mhz ADS‑B receiver antennas and of course there are many. And they clearly require me to answer a few questions:
Where would it be installed? | On a (domestic, tar) roof, probably either to an existing ABS ventilation pipe or to the edge of the roof |
How big do I want it to be? | Those white PVC pipe styles that are a foot or two/100-200cm seem sensible. I don't want to be erecting a great mast, nor do I need to just stick a 3" bit of wire up there. If a bit bigger makes a huge difference, that's OK too. I'd like to put something up that's robust as it gets extremely windy up here (top of mountain) and I don't want to worry about a frail bit of metal bending over. |
How much do I want to spend? | Up to USD$100 seems fair. |
How far away from my USB dongle will it be? | 15 to 20 feet would be good. I could make it shorter if need be and ideally if it was longer (20-30 feet) that would be good, too |
What distance would I like to pick up? | at least 100 nm (theoretically of course; but I have line of sight to several horizons so I think it's fair to expect at least 100 nm) |
With such a location, why aren't I considering a full on mast antenna or similar "super dooper" antenna? | Because I'm setting this up as a set-and-forget for someone else and don't have the time or capacity to take up this hobby to any extent. |
