Sideways flight?

Just watching a Kuwait Airlines 777 coming overhead.On FR24 the icon is flying sideways (ie heading NW but the icon is pointing 45 degrees)and periodically disappears to be replaced by a red disc with a '?' in the middle.Whats that about?

Aircraft direction is transmitted by aircraft transponder. If transponder transmits wrong data, you get wrong data on the map. When direction is not transmitted/unknown a (?) is shown.
