  • Transponder issues?

When looking at Birmingham UK airport, there are a couple of support vehicles (Ranger) that are showing as aircraft. Not sure if this is a transponder issue at BHX or if FR24 is displaying the icon incorrectly.

Unless you tell us what the hex code is, we cannot look into it and fix it. Every hex code initially shows as the default 737 icon until it's been identified and the details added to the database. That goes for ground vehicles, fixed radar masts, helicopters, gliders, balloons and everything else.

I was going to say the same. Then noticed both have GRND or ground vehicle flags already

So someone has half done it.

Following up on the codes to change them into ground support icons and not the default 737.

Note : For description, Airport Ground Vehicle is used the most. A number of them are using GRND. Should be changed to match too?

The 3 BHX vehicles you've quoted are already in the database with ground vehicle tags so there is no issue there. The ones you see with 737 icons you need to post the hex codes for them here, or give us the exact time UTC and location and we can investigate them on the playback.

Do wonder if someone's injecting garbage. 2 jits on the screenshot side by side. One being a vehicle

I too have kept an eye on BHX Rangers and they can pop up as cars and sometimes as the 737. The only codes available to me are the ICAO 24bit addresses. Those that have appeared as 737s are listed next to the label above.

I’m using an iPhone with the Flightradar24 app.

Clearly there is an issue either way as Leader5 : 43BFF0 at LGW at 02:37 BST shows a 737 icon.

That must be an issue specific to the phone app then because it shows correctly as a vehicle icon on the desktop site. It's also in the back-end database correctly with ground vehicle category. I will raise the issue with the admins, but you should file a report via support@fr24.com too as this isn't the place where bugs get fixed.

                    Hello,

This is a known bug that only happens on the old generation platforms (apps) and is fixed in the new generation platform (web). Apps are currently migrating to new generation and that will fix the problem automatically. 20% of iOS users are already on the new generation and the rest will get there within 1-2 weeks. Android should be migrated in 3-5 weeks. Hope this answers your question.

Just for clarification, as iOS users of the Flightradar24 app, we don't need to install a different new generation app? That the background generational engine of the current iOS Flightradar24 app willbe updated and pushed through the App Store as normal. This will then stop the ground vehicles showing intermittently as both the vehicle icon and the default 737 icon.

                      Is that correct?

                      Thanks.
