Although it is a Dutch firm the actual detection equipment could well be British, Fugro buy a lot of sub-sea equipment from Sonardyne in Hampshire UK.
So far they have not stated exactly what kit they will be using.
Ben.

Fugro will use two vessels equipped with side scan sonar, multibeam echo sounders and video cameras to scour the seafloor, which is close to 5,000 meter (16,400 feet) deep in places.
The Dutch company is already conducting a detailed underwater mapping of the search area, along with a Chinese naval vessel.

"A Chautauqua Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of Delta Airlines from New York La Guardia,NY to Dayton,OH (USA) with 41 passengers and 3 crew, was climbing out of La Guardia's runway 04 when the crew, climbing through about 6000 feet, requested to maintain 10,000 or 15,000 feet, they got a landing gear not coming up. The aircraft leveled off at 12,000 feet and entered a holding to troubleshoot the issue, about 5 minutes later the crew indicated they would not continue their flight but divert.
The aircraft continued to hold on radar vectors at 12,000 feet for about one hour, then the crew asked a "silly question" whether JFK Airport would have lighting equipment to be able to do a visual inspection of the landing gear during a fly by. The crew declared emergency reporting, they had managed to get their gear down and receive three greens but still weren't sure what the issue was. They requested a low approach to JFK's runway 31R, so that the left main gear with the problem would be on the tower side and then circle to land on 31L."

The image shows the fly over that the crew performed so the ground crew could get a good look at the landing gear to see if a tire had blown.
