Stowaways body found on London street
I guess this story proves that it's far safer travelling inside an aircraft than outside;
desperation drives some people to desperate measures................one can only wonder what would drive some one to try this.Last edited by fungus; 2012-09-29, 05:31.

Faulty jet had to circle Dublin
A passenger jet was forced to circle over north Dublin for half an hour yesterday while the crew dealt with a suspected hydraulics failure before returning to Dublin Airport.
Air France flight AF-5120, operated by CityJet, left Dublin at 9.15am destined for London City Airport. There were 59 passengers and crew on board.
Soon after departure, the crew contacted air traffic controllers and reported that they had suffered a hydraulics failure.
The pilot requested time to assess the issue before deciding whether the jet would have to return to the airport.
Airport crash crews were placed on standby while the flight crew carried out their checklists.
When the CityJet crew confirmed that they wished to return to Dublin, up to six inbound flights were placed in designated holding patterns over the Irish Sea for a time.
Departing aircraft were allowed to take off until it was confirmed that the emergency aircraft was returning to the airport where arrangements were being made to change operations to Dublin’s alternative cross runway.
The Avro RJ-85 jet flew a series of circuits north of Dublin as the crew made preparations to return to Dublin and asked controllers if any evidence of hydraulic fluid was found on the runway. The crew requested that emergency services be on standby for their arrival.
After it had been confirmed that there was no sign of hydraulic fluid or debris on the runway, the flight landed safely shortly after 9.05am.

Lufthansa aircraft damages house roof
The roof of an house located near to the airport in Graz, Styria, was damaged by a Lufthansa aircraft as it came into land on Tuesday evening.
Nobody was injured but part of the roof was ripped off when the plane flew close over the house.
Austro control is investigating whether the plane was too low or to early.
Around three square metres of the roof tiles were loosened due to the slipstream and were swept off into the 72-year-old home owner's garden.
The woman reported the event to the airport and the airline was tracked down. They offered to send roofers to repair the damage.
Such events are extremely rare as houses in flight path's have extra precautions to keep the roof secure.

Dutch send F-16 fighters to intercept Schiphol-bound plane:
Reuters) - The Dutch Defence Ministry sent two F-16 fighters to intercept a Vueling airplane thought to be carrying hostages on board that was bound for Amsterdam's Schiphol airport from Malaga, Dutch website nu.nl reported on Wednesday.
Neither Schiphol airport nor the Dutch Defence Ministry were immediately available to comment. A Vueling spokeswoman could not confirm the report.
Hostage crisis at Dutch airport: reports
A possible hostage crisis is underway at Amsterdam's main airport of Schiphol.
The Dutch defence ministry reportedly sent two fighter jets to intercept a plane that had come from Malaga in Spain.
The Dutch military police say the plane is now surrounded by security forces on the tarmac, and passengers are still onboard.
Parts of the airport were earlier evacuated after a World War II era bomb was allegedly discovered, but it is unclear if the two events are linked.
More to come.

Bird strike disables PAL plane
MANILA, Philippines – A bird strike forced a Philippine Airlines (PAL) airbus 320 plane to make an emergency landing at the Tacloban airport Wednesday morning.
Initial reports said the plane’s engine blades were damaged when a flock of wild ducks directly hit the engine while about to land at runway 18 of Tacloban airport.
The commercial plane with flight number PR191 departed the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 around 5:45 a.m. for the 1-hour flight to Tacloban.
The return flight to Manila (PR192) was cancelled after PAL’s maintenance crew decided to further check the airworthiness and safety of the aircraft.
The aircraft accident investigation board of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is now investigating the incident.
In 2009, a commercial flight in New York City plunged into the Manhattan River minutes after take off when a flock of birds hit the engine. --
