  • From Takeoff to Final Altitude...

Question that sounds simple but may not be. How long does it take for a plane at takeoff to get to its final cruising altitude at, say, 35-36,000 feet? What factors affect the duration?

    Hi.

A 747-287B would take about 35 minutes from sea level to FL 350

All other aircraft would be somewhere inbetween this depending size and load.

And Learjet 24B would take about 9 minutes – takes 14 minutes to FL 410

So, the larger the aircraft, the longer it takes to reach that particular service's maximum altitude?
