It was a valid question Zak, most forums use this ranking system but in different formats ( for instance some say Newbie instead of passenger ).

They would use what ever is relevant for that forum.

Passenger 0
Flight attendant 50
Purser 100
First officer 200
Captain 500

It means your status as a member has been upgraded, more than 50 posts.

When you get to 100 posts it will change to Purser, i think 300 plus is a Pilot or Co- Pilot.

Thank you for the explanation Scanhorse. As a newcomer to the Internet, I find this "ranking" business childish in the extreme and quite unnecessary.

You must not have participated in many other internet forums because most, including FR24, are built on software known as vBulletin and this ranking is a feature of that software although the site owner can turn it off if they so wish. I'm not overly keen on ranks and even less enthusiastic about the "signatures" that posters are able to append to their posts but I take them as they come. Rank on internet forums equates to the number of posts made. Like a lot of things in life, quantity often does not equate to quality.
