Just went back and finished its track, in early hours of 22/5 it was about 100nm due east of Byron bay and heading away, so could be in NZ or around Lord howe Isl or, any bleeding where now

Wonder if it'll make SEQ again... might get that yagi and high gain colinear out of storage to see if its "active" or mischievous

There is also one airborne over Tanzania heading for Kenya , reg GOOGLE with hex of 700046, FR24 indicates a vertical speed of -7808 fpm but the altitude does not change.

We have had them out of NZ today. One of them has ended up in the drink, causing all sorts of emergency calls to come in and coastguard being dispatched

They made the media and are now helping to recover it http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/1018...nterbury-coast

            oops!

They have gotten smarter with the height control with this batch. Often flying them higher than previously, and there is better altitude control to dictate movements more

lol, maybe they will replace it with ADSB capable xponders, not old mode S (apparently they do have some fully capable)

They are ADSB. Look over NZ, all but 1 are broadcasting actual data. Ive got some at 72,000ft

I made a superposition of FR24 and http://earth.nullschool.net/ that gives winds at different altitudes.
The maximum possible is 10hPa and it explains the trajectory of the balloon.
Winds are strong easterly on the northern part of Madagascar and, where the balloon is, are moderate from northeast confirmed by the "track" in FR24.

I'm new here so the image may not attach but I saw the balloon off the coast of Madagascar.

Expect them to start showing up again any day now. Another bunch were launched near midnight last week.

I would have to troll my initial-contact logs from being in range after launch to get an idea on how often they are going around or taking to circumnavigate.
