    lol, maybe they will replace it with ADSB capable xponders, not old mode S (apparently they do have some fully capable)

    They are ADSB. Look over NZ, all but 1 are broadcasting actual data. Ive got some at 72,000ft

    I made a superposition of FR24 and http://earth.nullschool.net/ that gives winds at different altitudes.
    The maximum possible is 10hPa and it explains the trajectory of the balloon.
    Winds are strong easterly on the northern part of Madagascar and, where the balloon is, are moderate from northeast confirmed by the "track" in FR24.

    Expect them to start showing up again any day now. Another bunch were launched near midnight last week.

    I would have to troll my initial-contact logs from being in range after launch to get an idea on how often they are going around or taking to circumnavigate.
