  • Why is this A380 flying in the wrong direction?

Did it attempt to make a landing and because of the high winds had to turn around?

It looks like the Aircraft has held for awhile, then made missed approach and diverted to Amsterdam due the high winds over the UK.

I have just checked Heathrow and they have got two holding patterns North East of the Airport, i have never seen that before.

Ireland has been badly affected by the strong wind.

Confirmed. Landed in Amsterdam.. but why?

I know the winds are very bad in the UK/Ireland etc but could it not try and go back to LHR? Or would fuel be a problem right now?

There are to many Aircraft holding for Heathrow and there are lots of delayed Aircraft which is why they have diverted.

Hey Speedbird! I saw thie delays and all the aircraft holding..crazy!

Could it not have diverted to say Manchester or Gatwick ..or anywhere in the UK? Is Amsterdam preferred as it is not affected by the UK weather?

The A380 is too big to go just anywhere. Actually few airports can accept it in normal operations.
