  • Unknown Reg, help please.

Friday 6/12/13 at 13.32, two American A/c passed over Exeter in close formation at about 38,000 ft travelling West. One was Delta Flight DL33, N859NW (AMS - ATL). Before I could get details on paper, the second A/c disappeared from radar over Cornwall. Does anyone know what it was ? It might have been N182UA, can anyone verify this ?

According to Flightaware, N182UA was somewhere between Honolulu and Tokyo (Narita) so it couldn't have been that

A replay shows the two flights you're interested in

      Thanks Sage of Milton,
I think that answers my question. The playback shows the two flights quite a way apart but when actually watching them their radar images were superimposed all the way across Somerset and Devon. That is one reason why i couldn't get details of the second one before it disappeared off radar. Using an eyeball Mk1, they were flying in very close formation (within 400 metres of each other horizontally). I didn't note their flight levels but presumably 2000 ft apart.
      Regards, Tony
