  • Aircraft Registrations in FR24

I am a relatively new plane spotter, and use FR24 to help identify some aircraft. However, I notice that about a third of ALL the aircraft showing on the flight map use the generic information of being an Alaska Airlines B737 with registration N705AS. Is this a problem with something I am doing wrong, or is it a glitch in the program?

On a side note, if I have the date and time I spotted an aircraft, and I have the type of aircraft and the flight number, is there any website I can use to do a reverse search on the flight number to get the registration number of the aircraft in question? Thanks for any help.

Noted that yesterday, and they all look to be "orange" aircraft , that is the US FAA feed, and those aircraft showing that rego, are also showing a ADSB code of 000000, so the system looks to be putting in N705AS as a default , so your not doing anything wrong.

on the second question, if you useing FR 24/7 on a computer you can do a search of the data base which drops down from the top of the FR24/7 page, of if its not showing, also try http://flightaware.com/ with the flight number...

Thanks. I've tried both the database and Flightaware already....usually if it's a private flight I can come up with the reg#. However, for commercial flights, all I ever find is the flight#. Don't know why, but some airlines like US Airways and Frontier almost always show a reg# in FR24, but no luck on all the others.....

Ok just had a good look at yhe USA and there are a large number of aircraft with that rego, and all showing no ADSB code, so this would say to me its a FAA setting in the USA radar system,

Just put in a flight number into http://www.libhomeradar.org/ and it came up with the rego, this could be a pointer to help you out,
