  • a new viewpoint

I have been plane spotting for 60 yeras, starting at Speke Airport, where i used to cycle regularly to visit the viewing area.
At that time the Met Office used to have flights visiting there, using both Spitfire and Mosquito aircraft. Regular visitors were usually Dakotas or Vikings with the odd Dove or Heron thrown in.
The resident flying club used Austers and there was servicing being done on Canadian Sabres.
Visited Farnborough for first time with the ATC in 1955. On a later visit I stayed late after the crowds were gone and was rewarded with Concorde taking off and climbing out to the west.
I moved house a few weeks ago and live on the edge of Chelmsford about 2 miles north of one of Heathrow's main flightpaths.
From Flightradar I know that the aircraft are generally between 10,000 and 15,000 ft. However I bought a Sony HX200Vand get some quite acceptable results.
