What is this "DFLD Real-time Noise radar" ? Seems interesting. Please explain what it is and how it works. I found a Fluglärmkonturenkarten map but not clear on what it actually is or does. Is this a audio recording device for picking up jet noise?

      I visited the site
      Code:
      http://www.DFLD.de
, it is naturally in German language, but this sentence caught my attention: "Der Preis ist mit 1.000.-€ Preisgeld versehen". I got it translated by Google Translate, and it said "The price is provided with 1.000 € prize money".

I am now interested to find out how to win this prize money .

        Your Google Translator is broken.
The matter was that the DFLD organization won an award of 1000€ for its citizen-based aircraft noise monitoring system, that is operated independently of the airline and airports industries.

You can surely apply for that award as well: you might provide a network of about 300 noise monitoring stations, lease a mainframe to aggregate the results and compute the daily, weekly monthly and yearly statistics for each station according to the strict rules of the european aircraft noise directive.

You might have a look on its international variant
        Code:
        http://www.eans.net/En/index.html
        .

The DFLD real-time noise radar (their terminology) is a map with flights à la Flightradar plus a real time display of the noise measurements from the monitoring stations.
        Code:
        http://www.dfld.de/Radar/?L=G&E=E&Lat=51.3686033&Lon=6.9400013&Z=14&FT=1#
(it is not nice, the aircraft display is very basic, but it shows the current value of the noise stations)

Oh that antenna is just for testing off-site. It does not really matter.
Under the roof, it is connected to a much better antenna.

With the fruit crate, i have just to pick a single object and plug it of the power socket, when i need to tinker with it.
