Some of you might find this interesting.
A Retired American Airlines pilot from the US with over 20,000 logged hours is currently piloting his kitset Lancair IV from pole to pole heading to Brazil at present. (taken 8 years to build it)
This wee baby is not your average plane thought to be used on this sort of feat. Recently he set an (unverified) record flying Guam to Jacksonville in the east coast of the US.. over 7000nm non stop taking 39hrs!
His insurance company has cancelled his policy, he has no official sponsorship or backing. And is as they say, under the radar.. only appearing in smaller media outlet stories about his feats. Takes a 400gal additional fuel tank in the back, some food and emergency pack.
I personally, am blown away. And look forward to him arriving here on the weekend and to shake the hand of the guy!
His wee AC appears on FR24 under FAA cover.. N6ZQ. But also has live tracking
This pole trip is over 20,000m
