    Reg's now searchable in Flightaware

I'm noticing that it now is possible to search for actual aircraft registrations in FlightAware. However, the reg does not appear when you look up by flightnumber. It also looks like this only applies to ADS-B equipped aircraft. Are we seeing some new cooperation between Flightaware and FR24 maybe?

yes It's nice to have that feature

It's been around for over a year now.
The data comes from 3rd parties(airlines,etc...) It doesn't work for all the airlines.

Track airliners by tail number on FlightAware - 2 years ago
FlightAware has added the ability to track an airliner by the registration number for many major airlines. Type in the registration (e.g., N487UA) and track that individual airplane, even if it flies as an airline flight identifier. We'll be adding more airlines as well as increasing data availability over the coming weeks.

Found the thread on FR24 forum from June 17, 2010 You would have known if you read the thread in 2010 and you wouldn't be ashamed of yourself in 2013

"The ability to track an airliner by the registration number. For supported airlines, you can type in the registration (e.g., N12345) and track that individual airplane, even if it flies as an airline flight identifier."

    aka http://flightaware.com/news/article/...-Tracking-/139

    [Other collected info:]

"FlightAware is pulling directly from the airline's FLIFO systems"

    --
"The flight plan we receive from the FAA only includes one identifier: the airline and flight number or the tail number.
In addition we receive tail numbers for some airlines directly from the airline (CO, UA, etc). You can look up a flight for those airlines and follow the link to the inbound flight or you can look up those tail numbers and see which flights they operated."
    --
For supported carriers you can enter a tail number to see the flights and on the flight page we have a link to track the inbound flight by the same aircraft.
Some licensing restrictions prevent us from displaying tail numbers on flight pages.
