  • Just noticed this myself. It is not showing up on flightradar24. Perhaps they have an altitude limit set.
It is leaving slight trails but disappears every so often; wondered if it was a 'ghost', but if it leaves contrails it must be a real balloon.

    • I dont appear to be picking it up on raw data. Nor flightaware...

      • HBAL 278 is approaching waypoint 'dovot' at 60,800 feet.

        • I don't have any traces

You seeing on local reception/screen or planeplotter?

If its normal radar, pay to copy the HEX down and make fr24 aware, normally HBALs are exempt but after v3 it may not be

            • Getting HBAL 278 intermittently heading for Wanaka at 60,700 feet and 42.5 knots course 119.5 . I am using PlanePlotter on a SDR unit and also on other computer using Beast.

              • Surprised my beast isn't even getting a sniff at that height.

Its not an intermittent poisition pulse is it. No mention on the wanaka page of the superballoon going up, (or on their sites tracker) But yesterdays weather forecast was still a hold.

This is on my planeplotter from the Beast.
Still nothing on VRS from Fr24 receiver.

                  • Odd. I've still not had hits heh

Its not a Planeplotter MLAT source being white is it?

                    Signs its daytime KIWI time..

                        • Hrm. It has decided I can't have more than 1 connection to fr24feed again. So was crashing my SQL writer on opening (closing port so denying)

Have had to enable 30003 via planeplotter, and attach to that instead. Less than ideal given PP stability but alas.

Its getting a hurry on (the balloon) now

                          • Have dropped them a note.

Odd HEX, so I suspect filtered by FR/FA. Looking at my uploader its currently removing 2 contacts from every packet upload. Possibly one of them
