    Nice built.

Experimenting with different types of DIY antennas is fun.

I also live in a high rise building, surrounded by other high rise buildings, and I am not allowed to install anything on roof or projecting outside the window, but that did not stop me from experimenting with DIY antennas.

    Have fun.
Thanks. You sound like you are living in the same building as me
I've got 8m to the roof and there will be a great location, but no way I will get access to it and instal an antenna.
I'm trying to launch the second location. On the roof at my workplace but at the moment I'm facing two challenges: lack of stable internet connection (weak WiFi signal on the roof) and my boss(not a big problem )

I envy you guys. I live in a valley, I'm surrounded by hills. My horizon-limited theoretical max range is some 80-90 NM in a few selected directions, but mostly a lot less than that. So I'm thrilled every time I get a 90NM hit, knowing that my "cantenna" is maxing out its theoretical limit.

cantenna works great, but you should try any other antenna fixed to 1090Mhz just to test.

    Hi guys!
Today i built the Spider Antenna without soldering!
I tried the collinear one with no success...
Result where really poor, maybe because i only used 6 pieces... who know.
Anyway the spider seems pretty consistent and easy to build!
Result are a bit better that the modded whip (the one that you have to cut...)

Anything to improve its weather resistance?
I have to find a nice place on the roof to use it beacause the quick test on the balcony shows a nice range all over the directions but not that far.

Cheers and thanks for all the projects available

And thanks to @abcd567, always available to comment and help.

You are missing two cable ties on outer jacket to hold the radials in position. Without something to grip radials in position, wind will change their orientation, and these wont be equally distributed over 360 degrees.

Please see two cable ties (black) in the photo below. These ties are provided specifically to grip the radials so that these dont get dis-oriented by motion or wind.

Easiest way is to block signals from one direction with a metal plate.

Even directional antennas have large sidelobes in reception.
    Overall it gets really complicated.
