  • South African Airports

It would be appreciated if the South African Airports (FA) could be updated. If you don't want to do all of them, we would like to see at least the following:

FACT - Cape Town International Airport
    FALA - Lanseria
FALE - King Shaka International Airport
    FAUP - Upington
    FAYP - Ysterplaat Airforce Base
    FYOG - Oranjemund
    FAGG - George

    Thanks

I see Cape Town has been placed on the map, thank you.

There is a receiver at Cape Town and also at Port Eliabeth as we can see planes there.

The others I am not sure of, but we do have interested people there.

A group of us are trying to get receivers, but have not had any replies to our queries.

        South African Airports

FALE - King Shaka International Airport, is the new airport at Durban. I think Durban International has been closed.

          Hi Flightfan.

What receivers are trying to buy, as some are not compatible with Flightradar24.

Hello Mike, We want to get the receivers that marketed by Kinetics. I think it is also the ones recommended by Frightradar24. I run a radio dealership.

              Hi Flightfan.

There is a long waiting list for the SBS-3 and there is no stock of SBS-1ER as they stopped making them about a year ago.

The SBS-3 is going on sale soon.

OK, so that's the problem. Maybe they will reply to our queries once the SBS-3 is ready for the market. Thanks for the info Mike.

                Cheers

                  Hello,
Im using different receivers, Microadsb-USB, The Beast, an old sbs1 and a newer sbs1er. all are compatible to upload. Infact I dont know a receiver which is not compatible. There is only a difference in sensitivity, speed and support. You can also use Planeplotter to upload.
Ready build receivers are available from around Euro 80,-.

if somebody has already a receiver and planeplotter then try this: http://www.flightradar24.com/#!/increase_coverage.php

Today is the first day I have noticed the coverage around Cape Town. There is also a reciever in Johannessburg. Trouble seems to be very few of the local domestic aircraft are transmitting any info. All the International stuff does. Aircraft take off and land very 5 mins or so but if you see any local/domestic flights it is any one or two a year.

I am waiting for my SBS to set up and would like to know where the owner of the rcieveris situated as I see his coverage (due to high hills is a bit intermiate. I am in Fish Hoek (not an ideal local) but it might help. I get the immpression the station is in the Northern Suburbs?
If he/she wants to contact me direct hgm@mweb.co.za is the address

I think the best way is to add additional crosses to the map if receivers are running there.
a lot of routes have already been setup during the last days.
