According to the BBC, the first commercial flight of a 787 with the new battery arrangement is due to leave Addis Ababa for Nairobi later today.

It seems Ethiopian Airlines are happy with their 787; their Addis Ababa to Frankfurt flight ET706 was flown yesterday and today by ET-AOP.

ANA this morning had a quick return flight Tokyo to Sapporo.

Dreamliner Flight to Japan Diverted Back to San Diego Airport Wednesday, Oct 9, 2013
JAL Flight 65 took off from Lindbergh Field at 1:35 p.m. but returned to the airport a short time later

A Boeing 787 Dreamliner headed from San Diego to Tokyo was diverted back to the San Diego International Airport Wednesday due to a problem with the airplane's anti/de-icing system.
According to San Diego Airport Authority officials, Japan Airlines Flight 65 took off from Lindbergh Field at 1:35 p.m. with no issues. A short time later, the flight turned around and returned to San Diego, landing at Terminal 2 by 3:10 p.m.
Representatives from Japan Airlines told NBC 7 San Diego that the pilot of the flight had received an “error” message regarding the operation of the anti/de-icing system. The pilot made the call to turn around and return to San Diego so repairs could be made to the system.
As of 5:15 p.m., airline officials said the repairs were expected to take a few hours.

The FAA’s primary public information officer is currently out of the office due to the government shutdown. The 787 Dreamliner, Boeing’s newest and most technologically-advanced jet has been plagued by a series of problems since its launch, including a battery fire and fuel leaks.

Poor JAL ! Looks like they made the CORRECT decision to award 51 new planes order to AirBus a few days ago.

1 more JAL's 787 got into trouble in Moscow.

The shitholes and food oven don't work. Passengers & crew cant eat & cant shit - LOL !

( Note: On my next vacation - when I book for my flights, I will make sure the aircrafts assigned is not a 787 Dreamer ).

Toilets shutdown force B-787 returns to Moscow

Malfunctioning cabin toilets have forced a Japan Airlines Dreamliner bound for Tokyo to return to Moscow. The airline suspects an electrical problem.

Airline officials say the mid-flight malfunction occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

The jetliner was carrying 151 crew and passengers when it changed its destination to an embarking airport in Moscow and landed safely 5 hours later.

They say the plane was fine on the outward journey from Tokyo to Moscow.

Dreamliners were grounded earlier this year after a string of battery problems. But the airline insists the two problems are unrelated.

Thomsons had the same problem on one of their 787s (G-TUIC???) - Flight from UK to Florida or Cancun got to just south of Iceland then turned around for the same reason ... spent about 4 hours flying ovals to the north of Wales wasting fuel to get down to a safe landing weight (maybe they should have carried on to the Boeing factory in Charleston, NC to get it fixed under warrentee!)

JAL can say what they like about problems not being related.
One of the Dreamliner's major "selling points" has long been the shift toward using electric power for a lot of functions, telling everyone how this is a better idea, using directly coupled generators, rather than the traditional bleed methods.
Well, JAL and ANA had electrical problems in the past.
Norwegian had to cancel a flight last month due to electrical problems.
United had problems on 2 LHR-IAH flights in July due to "message indicators" (electrical).
The JAL Moscow problem refers directly to electrical problems and the San Diego incident involved a de-icing indication. Either the indication was incorrect or the de-icing was not working. Regardless of which it was, they are both electrical.
So, Mr JAL, it is not correct to say the problems are not related. They are all related!
