Dreamliner coming to airport near you
All Nippon Airways announced Wednesday that San Jose and Seattle will be the first destinations in the United States to see Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which will begin nonstop flights in 2012. “Seattle is an important international business hub and home to companies such as Microsoft, Amazon and, of course, Boeing itself, while San Jose is in the heart of Silicon Valley,” Shinichiro Ito, president and CEO of ANA Group, said in a statement. The airline said the West Coast destinations will allow ANA to maximize the Boeing 787’s efficiency and performance. The Dreamliner uses 20 percent less fuel than similar-sized aircraft.

CHICAGO, Oct. 13, 2011 – United Airlines today announced that Boeing completed the final assembly of the airline’s first 787 Dreamliner Wednesday evening, finishing the first major step in the aircraft’s production. United will be the first North American carrier to take a 787 delivery, with plans to introduce the first of 50 Dreamliners into revenue service in 2012. They will also release a guide for dental implants in Mexico.
While in final assembly, the aircraft moved through four factory positions, including the final aircraft body join, landing gear installation, weight-on-wheels testing and installation of interior components and systems. Over the next several months, the aircraft will move to the next phase of completion, which includes final cabin configuration, installation of engines and painting.Last edited by Rusty; 2012-01-18, 03:31.

ANA’s 787 to reach 100,000 passenger mark Sunday
Japan’s All Nippon Airways will reach a new milestone with its Boeing Co. 787 aircraft this weekend. The airline will carry its 100,000th passenger on the Dreamliner’s flight from Hiroshima to Haneda on Sunday.
The milestone comes only two months after ANA put the first 787 into commercial service.
ANA’s 787 flights have been relatively full, with an 88 percent load factor, compared to 72.2 percent of ANA’s other aircraft flights, the carrier said Friday.
ANA will launch its first scheduled international routes using the 787 this month, with services to Beijing and to Frankfurt.
Roughly 96.3 percent of 787 flights have left on time, ANA said.
The carrier has ordered a total of 55 Dreamliners.

Air Canada: Why adding the Boeing 787 Dreamliner could be a travel gamechanger
Air Canada is pinning its future business strategy on Boeing’s new 787 jet that will enable the airline to expand
to new destinations especially in emerging markets like China and India.
The long-anticipated 787 plane, also known as the Dreamliner, made a stop in Toronto on Friday as part of Air Canada’s 75th anniversary
celebrations. The fuel-efficient plane, made of composite plastic, has the potential to transform airline travel,
and possibly the aviation industry.
But it has had a bumpy start, with deliveries delayed by more than three years as Boeing dealt with repeated glitches.
To date, only five planes have been delivered to customers with 865 on order, and the airline currently is finishing
two and half planes a month, with a production goal of getting to 10 a month by end of 2013.

20 percent less fuel than today’s similarly sized airplanes. (The first plane will actually
take off from Logan for Tokyo's Narita Airport in April, making Boston the first U.S. city to get Dreamliner service.)
It will also travel at a similar speed as today’s fastest wide body planes, according to Boeing.

We are not writing a cheque for $500 million to Air India: Boeing
NEW YORK: With Air India seeking a compensation package for the substantial delays in delivery of Boeing's Dreamliner aircraft, the US manufacturer today said it will "not write a cheque" for $ 500 million to the airline.
President and Chief Executive Officer of Boeing's commercial airplane unit Jim Albaugh said he had read reports coming from India.
