UPDATE 1-Air New Zealand says more Dreamliner delays possible

Oct 12 (Reuters) - The CEO of Air New Zealand said on Wednesday that further delays are possible in the delivery of Boeing 787 Dreamliners it has ordered and the carrier is negotiating with Boeing to be compensated.
The carrier is expected to receive its first of eight Dreamliner aircraft by the end of 2013 after a three-year delay.
"We would not be surprised to see further delays, but we have not yet been advised formally if there are any further delays," the company's chief executive, Rob Fyfe, told Reuters in an interview.

Boeing delivers its second 787 and jumbo freighter

Boeing delivered its second 787 Dreamliner to All Nippon Airways (ANA) of Japan Thursday, on the same day as the second delivery of its other new jet, the 747-8 Freighter, to European air freight carrier Cargolux.

Following a three-week delay in delivery due to a dispute over contract terms, Cargolux wasted no time. Its new jet took off shortly before 1 p.m. and headed directly to its headquarters in Luxembourg.

ANA's jet won't fly off to Japan until Saturday, Boeing said.

In Japan, ANA began training this week on its first 787, flying the Dreamliner to airports including Haneda, Kansai and Naha. ANA will fly its first passenger flight in a Dreamliner between Tokyo and Hong Kong on October 26.

So, does Dreamliner deserve its own icon in FR24?

Dreamliner coming to airport near you

All Nippon Airways announced Wednesday that San Jose and Seattle will be the first destinations in the United States to see Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which will begin nonstop flights in 2012. “Seattle is an important international business hub and home to companies such as Microsoft, Amazon and, of course, Boeing itself, while San Jose is in the heart of Silicon Valley,” Shinichiro Ito, president and CEO of ANA Group, said in a statement. The airline said the West Coast destinations will allow ANA to maximize the Boeing 787’s efficiency and performance. The Dreamliner uses 20 percent less fuel than similar-sized aircraft.

ANA’s 787 to reach 100,000 passenger mark Sunday

Japan’s All Nippon Airways will reach a new milestone with its Boeing Co. 787 aircraft this weekend. The airline will carry its 100,000th passenger on the Dreamliner’s flight from Hiroshima to Haneda on Sunday.

The milestone comes only two months after ANA put the first 787 into commercial service.

ANA’s 787 flights have been relatively full, with an 88 percent load factor, compared to 72.2 percent of ANA’s other aircraft flights, the carrier said Friday.

ANA will launch its first scheduled international routes using the 787 this month, with services to Beijing and to Frankfurt.

Roughly 96.3 percent of 787 flights have left on time, ANA said.

The carrier has ordered a total of 55 Dreamliners.
