    Iceland Volcano KATTLA eruption !!!!!????

Growing harmonic tremor spike in Katla volcano

Posted on September 6, 2011 by Jón Frímann
It seems that Katla volcano is going to keep me busy for coming days and weeks.
At this moment it seems that there is a growing harmonic tremor in Katla volcano. This harmonic tremor started today after the earthquake swarm that took place earlier today. After it stopped a spikes of small harmonic tremor spikes did start to appear. During the past few hours they have been growing in size. But it seems that the harmonic tremor drops for few moments between spikes.

Over 30 jordskjelv på Katla i natt, !!!!!!!!!!!

To av jordskjelvene som rystet Katla på Island natt til onsdag er kraftigere enn styrke 3. Det kan være signaler om at vulkanen er nær et askeutbrudd.

An earthquake swarm has begun under the Mýrdalsjökull glacier in Iceland near Katla volcano. The swarm began around 3 am on 5th October 2011. The first earthquake in the swarm measured magnitude 3. Residents of Vík in on the coast near the glacier have been alerted to a possible glacial outburst from Mýrdalsjökull. from http://www.volcanolive.com/news.html

Iceland's Katla volcano is getting restless

VIK, Iceland (AP) — If Iceland's air-traffic paralyzing volcanic eruption last year seemed catastrophic, just wait for the sequel. That's what some experts are saying as they nervously watch rumblings beneath a much more powerful Icelandic volcano — Katla — which could spew an ash cloud dwarfing the 2010 eruption that cost airlines $2 billion and drove home how vulnerable modern society is to the whims of nature.
Brooding over rugged moss-covered hills on Iceland's southern edge, Katla is a much bigger beast than the nearby Eyjafjallajokul volcano, which chugged ash all over Europe for several weeks in an eruption that local scientist Pall Einarsson describes nonetheless as "small."

Now, clusters of small earthquakes are being detected around Katla, which means an eruption could be imminent, seismologists say. The earthquakes have been growing in strength, too. After a long period of magnitude 3 tremors, a magnitude 4 quake was detected last week.
