Air Ambulance makes emergency landing at Sydney Airport
ADMIN;
The reason I posted this in the Flightradar24 section is because it is directly related to FR24- you can watch the flight on the map. If you're going to stick it in here, I'll remove the link and references to FR24 since it is very clear this section contains the phrase "Not related to Flightradar24"Last edited by fungus; 2012-10-24, 06:15.YSSY2/T-YSSY4 [SBS-1 Basestation w/- SSE-1090 SJ Mk2 Antenna (Thanks Delcomp) ] [Uniden UBCD996T w/- 16 element Wideband Discone VHF/UHF Antenna, and tuned 108MHz-137MHz Airband Antenna] [Trialing a home-brew 1090MHz collinear antenna]

I havent been able to find anything on AVHerald (http://www.avherald.com/) or any other site such as http://aviation-safety.net/index.php about this incident but that isnt at all unusual. The other day I posted an incident about an air ambulance again returning to Sydney (Australia) with the pilot having to manually pump the landing gear down which a day or two before had been 'newsworthy.' Apparently as they say what is yesterday's news lays on the bottom of the birdcage today. Aircraft return for all manner of reasons (I heard on my scanner today a Qantaslink Dash8 on decent into Sydney with a defective transponder and the back-up didnt work either. Needless to say this aircraft will likely be off to maintenance before flying again but the 'incident' wont make any news outlets as it's 'relatively' routine). Often aircraft are advised by ATC that they cant fly in Controlled Airspace or that they are required to leave it for one reason or another but this isnt always reported.

Emirates A380 in a Sydney mid-air engine explosion
DISTRESSED passengers told how they survived a mid-air emergency last night when an Emirates A380's engine exploded at 10,000 feet and forced it to turn back for an emergency landing. About 20 minutes after leaving Sydney, Emirates flight EK413 experienced an "engine fault'' en route to Dubai.
To track the flight (EK/UAE413) on FR24 from SYD and thence where the aircraft turns back to SYD near Mudgee after a loop around Newcastle;

The track to the Sth East of SYD is the leg from AKL-SYD (New Zealand to Australia) with the same flight number/callsign and the track from SYD to the North West is the track where the aircraft experienced the incident in the following pic;
