ANA plane makes steep dive over Shizuoka

    TOKYO —
Two ANA cabin attendants were injured when the plane they were working on unexpectedly made a sharp dive over Shizuoka Prefecture on Tuesday, the airline said Wednesday.
ANA said in a statement to media that the plane went into a dive when the co-pilot hit the wrong switch while attempting to unlock the cockpit door. Flight 140, with 117 passengers and crew on board, was on its way from Naha in Okinawa to Haneda Airport in Tokyo. ANA said no passengers were injured.
According to the Transportation Ministry, the Boeing 737-700 dived approximately 1,900 meters in under 30 seconds during the incident that took place just before 11 p.m. The co-pilot was apparently moving to open the cockpit door for the captain, who was returning from the restroom, and inadvertently hit the switch for the rudder that changes the plane’s heading, causing the aircraft to lose stability.

Alaska Airlines faces $590,000 fine for wiring problem

The Federal Aviation Administration proposed Friday a $590,000 fine against Alaska Airlines for allegedly operating a passenger jet on more than 2,000 flights under unsafe conditions.
The federal agency charges that the airline flew a 737-400 jet for about 18 months with an improperly installed hose clamp above the flight deck. Chafing between the clamp and adjacent wires sparked a fire while the plane was parked in Anchorage International Airport in January 2010, the FAA said.
The FAA said the wiring on the plane was last inspected in 2008 but maintenance crews did not fix the hose clamp, despite warnings in the plane's maintenance manual. An investigation by the airline found the same clamp problem on nine other jets.

LOT6 is heading back to WAW @ FL100, sounds like pressurization problems.

It is keeping its speed down to 350 MPH.
