    Tucano

I live on Morecambe Bay in the NW of the UK we are near Warton were BA systems have a
airfield and they use the Bay area for test flights, any way this morning the clouds were
down to about 250ft in places when I heard what I thought was a strange sounding turbo
prop very low passed right over our house, it turned out to be I think a Tucano with a Hawk
as a chase plane, I can only think they were testing something something quite new as although
I often see unusual or obviously modified aircraft and some I cant identify the last time I saw one
with a chase plane was the early Euro Fighter.
If this is not in the right place maybe a mode could move it.

Hi Ralph2, did a bit searching on the net and Tucano's are used for training RAF pilots before they progress onto Hawks. Possibly a training exercise. Check out this RAF link http://www.raf.mod.uk/equipment/tucano.cfm it's got a lot of info on this. All for now.

Hi and thanks for the reply, yes I know they are used by the RAF we get lots over on training but never in formation with a Hawk due to the flight path I am sure they were up from Warton, and the bad vis and low
level about 250ft makes me think they weren't students.
Beach nr our house a few sundays ago.

I'l have 2 please, a bloke I see now n then worked on the Lightening and when the Tornado was looking to be late into service
he looked at extending the life of the Lightening, he worked out that by replacing the electronics with modern kit they would
save 3.5 tons and so extend the life of the airframe. Strangely enough I saw another strange at least to me aircraft a few days
back, It was in a steep turn at high speed and very low so did not see the upper surface it looked very like a F104 Star-fighter
light grey or pail blue, complete with a T tail but had a delta wing it was well tanked up with tanks on the two outboard
points and seemed to be carrying other stuff on the fuselage, I for some reason thought it was French, I had not taken
any notice of it till the wife who does not usually take any notice of them said "whats all the junk hanging off that thing"
