Garuda recruits local crews during this Hajj session

Country flag carrier Garuda Indonesia announced that it had recruited 622 of 687 seasonal cabin crew members from the regions to facilitate service for the hajj pilgrimages in an effort to create a more familiar atmosphere during the flights, a company spokesman said.
“We try to bridge communication gaps between our staff and hajj pilgrims because we have found that many of those embarking on the hajj only speak regional dialects,” Garuda spokesman Pujobroto said Sunday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Home to the world’s largest Muslim population, Indonesia sends approximately 200,000 hajj pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia annually.

No direct Hajj flights from IoK this year

ISLAMABAD: The authorities again failed to ensure direct Hajj flights from the SrinagarInternationalAirport in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).The Civil Aviation Department had asked the Ministry of Civil Aviation to revive the direct Hajj flights in the wake of the inconvenience faced by the pilgrims from the territory but the demand was not accepted, Kashmir Media Service reported.
While the Civil Aviation Ministry had approached the Indian Home Ministry to allow the Saudi-Arabian airline-NAS Air-to fly pilgrims directly from Kashmir.
At least 8,000 pilgrims from Kashmir are scheduled to go for the holy pilgrimage this year. And for them, the news of indirect flights has come as a shocker.
