  • Erratic behaviour radar (EGPF4)

Recently I've noticed Flightradar24 performing oddly in my region.

Aircraft tracks extend beyond the plotted position of the aircraft itself, like so:
    f24-2..jpg

Aircraft tracks split into two, like a fork:
    f24-1..jpg

Aircraft positions sometimes jump around the map by distances of 10-20 miles in seemingly random directions creating a maze of tracks, like this:
    f24-4..jpg

I don't know if it's important or not, but this phenomenon only started a few days a ago and always when a plane is being tracked by one particular radar (EGPF4). Any ideas as to what's going on?

      great coverage, lots of problems

great coverage of the uk today, but there are many sharers with the wrong time setting on their computers, i am having problems working out where the aircraft actually are, as they are jumping around wildly between uploaders, example UAE201, west coast uk/east coast uk/west coast uk/east coast uk, THY2, northern ireland/east coast uk/northern ireland/east coast uk/northern ireland/east coast uk, this happens on every auto refresh across the central uk, i think everyone should use a common time server to synchronise their pc times, i use meinberg ntp, to keep my computer time synchronised, this is really spoiling some useful, well written software, & making the point of this website useless

Doesn't the time stamp comes from the ModeS message?

Can you tell us which "radar(s)" is(are) causing problems?

its either their time or home location is out, across the cetre of the uk aircraft are bouncing around everywhere, as they swap from feeder to feeder, 1 culprit is EGPF4 around cumbria area

NET2 is having problems as well, which is unusual for his radar

What's the main symptom? Is it the aircraft icon jumping forwards/backwards a little bit or a lot or do the trail looks odd?

I've just seen AAL47 jump back a few hundred miles.

its both, some have a difference of about 50 miles, but some are upto 150/200+ miles out, but only across the north west/central UK

Net2 is a combined feed from dozens of different "radars". Net2 was upgraded earlier this week and may be experiencing a few hiccups. I've advised the person concerned.

i though it was odd, as the NET2 radar is usually spot on,
hopefully EGPF4 will sort his out & we'll get back to normal

I'd anticipate Net2 will be sorted.

Something to bear in mind is there are different makes and quality of receivers. Net2 gets feeds from the Kinetic SBS-1 model range.

i have only noticed the problem starting over the past few days, coverage has been great, hopefully it will sort itself out, lol,
i'm hoping to get a micro-ADSB soon so i can start feeding, it should cover quite a bit & be online 24/7

We think the Net2 erratic behaviour has been resolved. If anyone experiences it again, please post here.

                              Thanks.
