I'm also watching it for half an hour, it's still going circles... does it have to dump fuel? and do you know what kind of emergency it has?

    Hi , Quote fr Simon

It was not JFK-CDG, but CDG-JFK (somehow I missed that) ... it almost appears
as if they could not retract the nose gear (I got hold of a pic showing the
nose gear down but none of the main gear), but as a matter of fact, they were
on FL350 and then descended to FL200, further FL100, and then diverted. I
guess, the nose gear came down uncommanded, but I need to verify things.

    Servus, Simon

I heard that they had a faulty Air Speed indicator but i'm not sure they would squawk 7700 for that or maybe I'm wrong anyway it wasn't too serious because a few hours later it took off from LHR to JFK and also arrived there safely aswell.

    Very funny story developing

The BBC in the meantime replaced the original picture in their report,
the first picture supporting the observation from the ground, the second (now online) disproving the observation.

(EGMH) MD-11 >> Your faulty Air Speed indicator , might very well be it
