    Very likely that it's the cell phone tower.

    I suppose at the indoor location that tower was blocked from view?

      Yes, no direct sight.
      But on my plotter I was tracking airplanes on that direction.
      That antenna is kind of west of my house and I have a brick wall.
      To North it is a glass window, where I got most of my traffic.

        Well, put the antenna inside, as soon as I went to the roof start raining again, so I couldnīt change itīs location. Maybe tomorrow I go there again.
        Immediately I got some traffic on tar and virtual radarl.
        FR still no data.

        Should I keep the gain on 29.7?

          The first graph has a number: Percent of messages >-3dBFS
          That percentage is larger with more gain.
          Usually i adjust this to 1% to 5%, if you are close to an airport, 10% can be a good value as well.

          Or just do what gives you better message rate on the graphs, but note that you'll have fluctuation, so the gain change may not be the reason for the change.

              iīm considering this filter on amazon
              ADS-B Dual 978 MHz + 1090 MHz Band-Pass SMA Filter from Flight Aware.
              My budget is kinda low as I had to buy the PI, 40bucks antenna, dongle and stuf.
              As Iīm in Brazil, everything now is multiplied by 4,2
              Also will need to buy some other connectors and a smaller cable to fit everything.
              I think I will let it running with the antenna inside the roof by now and maybe in two months Iīll try the roof outside again with filter.

                  Inside the roof, place a metal sheet in the direction of the mobile phone tower.
                  Aluminium foil on cardboard will also do

                  It should improve your overall reception but block that part of the sky.

                  Interference if too strong, will reduce reception in all directions, not just the direction where the interference is coming from.
                  Imagine something being so loud that everything gets distorted.

                  The dual 978+1090 MHz isn't always useful in regards to mobile phone frequencies, as 978 MHz is too close to them.
                  You shouldn't need other cables for that though.
                  And even for the ones i linked on ebay, one of them is only 6$, you only need a SMA male to male adapter.
                  Likely the ebay filters are better suited than the light blue FA filter in this case.

                  Anyway you should be able to block the mobile phone antenna with cardboard/aluminium foil or another metal sheet pretty well.
                  The attic seems like it should give you good reception

                    Thanks a lot for helping wiedehopf.
                    On attic I have a problem with some brickwall from water tank. Itīs bloking some NE direction.
                    Will try the cardboard on cell antenna direction.

                    Actually, I think i will just need to cut my cable and replace connectors.
                    If I connect the filter right on the dongle it will be easier and Iīll not need another cable.

                    About FR, anything we can do?

                      sure, let's check your configuration:

                      cat /etc/fr24feed.ini

                      It should look like this:
                      Code:
                      receiver="beast-tcp"
                      fr24key="xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
                      host="127.0.0.1:30005"
                      bs="no"
                      raw="no"

                          Didn't you run https://github.com/wiedehopf/adsb-sc...for-dump1090fa ?
                          That should have changed the configuration.

                          No matter you can adjust the configuration as explained here:
                          Solutions to common problems using dump1090 variants and ADS-B feeders - wiedehopf/adsb-wiki

                          receiver needs to be set to "beast-tcp"
                          the rest of the config looks fine.

                            I ran it.
                            As sayd, iīm kind of a newbie with this thing, but I think Iīm running both 1090-fa and the fr24feed that was previously installed.
                            Does it make sense?
                            will try again

                              Check the config again please:

                              cat /etc/fr24feed.ini

                              Should no longer say dvbt for receiver.

                                Seems to be back on track.
                                frworkingagain.jpg

                                still no hits, but should update soon. Low traffic in the area this time.

                                Iīll take a look at your past messages and the links for the filter for buying next month

                                thanks a lot
