  • fr24feed output on RPi (bash)

    I would like to know where I can find help about such things as feed sent 1,2 AC
    etc when I monitor fr24feed text as Im just guessing what it means at the moment!
    Is there a help page anywhere as s/w is only as good as its Help file IMHO!

    Just use the web page not the console. It's far more informative

    It's mlat,adsb AC = aircraft.

      And if you look at /monitor.txt it shows the raw data that the console info data is pulled from.

        Thanks Oblivian, I guessed AC meant aircraft, but recently I wondered if I was wrong and it was Modes for the numbers 1,2 etc.
        I'll now goodle mlat & adsb haha

        But am guessing these are the two modes where the fist has no Lat,Long data...
        I do like the tracked list displayed on the browser, which I can monitor from my tablet/windows/RPi
        Anyway I digress & thanks again!

        I suppose this forum is the help file !!!

          More a case of only give people the basics to get data to us. The rest is need to know/not of interest to Joe bloggs I guess.

          Mlat is the non location data, yes. Server then uses that with others same data and triangulates.

          Other times it will capture but not upload if sever sends a dont-bother/ignore req so you see xAC removed.

                    2019-05-18 12:05:16 | [feed][i]removed 2 of 126 AC
                    "sent 5,91" probably means that data for 5 of 91 AC with positions were sent to the server.

                    As for the other numbers:
                    2019-05-18 12:07:36 | [feed][i]filtering out 106 overlapping AC (saving bandwidth)
                    2019-05-18 12:07:40 | [feed][i]removed 1 of 114 AC

                    My guess is that the 106 and 114 are a count in relation to all aircraft, not only those with position.
                    "removed" means it's now out of range i believe.

                    2019-05-18 12:05:14 | [mlat][i]Stats 36357587/1931

                    Those are mlat statistics, on the right side is basically a count of messages sent to the server which will then be used for multilateration.
                    The left number is a total of those messages.

                    But that's all my guess, their is no official reference.

                      Where did you read that " feed sent 1,2 AC" anyway?

                      Normally fr24feed is started as a service and should already be running.
                      You need to define a log location to look at the log.

                      Otherwise it means that you are starting fr24feed a second time which can produce problems.

                        Ok Weidehopf
                        Thanks but I used to think it was
                        sent 5,91" probably means that data for 5 of 91 AC with positions were sent to the server.

                        But I gather it's mlat/adsb

                        As kindly informed by Oblivian

                        But thanks for the extra info

                          If you restart fr24feed it starts with sending all aircraft, then only sends a lower number.
                          At the start it will say:
                          sent 91,91 aircraft.

                          Maybe it's 5 ADS-B aircraft sent, data for 91 aircraft sent for MLAT sync and positioning.

                              Code:
                              root@pi ~ # grep feed_num /dev/shm/decoder.txt
                              feed_num_ac_adsb_tracked=91
                              feed_num_ac_non_adsb_tracked=24
                              feed_num_ac_tracked=115
                              Code:
                              2019-05-18 12:26:44 | [feed][i]removed 1 of 114 AC
                              2019-05-18 12:26:47 | [feed][i]sent 7,88 AC
                              2019-05-18 12:26:48 | [feed][i]filtering out 110 overlapping AC (saving bandwidth)
                              2019-05-18 12:26:52 | [feed][i]sent 2,93 AC
                              2019-05-18 12:26:57 | [feed][i]sent 4,96 AC
                              After filtering the first number always decreases.
                              That's why i think those are the planes actually sent.

                              Not quite sure what all this looks like when you disable MLAT but if i remember correctly the "sent 4,96" stays exactly the same wihout MLAT and has nothing to do with it.

                              And yes the second number is probably the number of ADSB aircraft tracked as it correlates with that number in the monitor.txt
