  • near miss?

    Hi,

I've often seen other flights from the airplane window, but none as close as this past Tuesday (August 7th).

I was on flight KL1386, and saw flight PC1170 pass under us at about 13.00 UTC.

Flightradar shows "calibrated" heights of 36,000 and 35,025 feet respectively.

"GPS heights" are about 37,450 and 36,600 feet.

The plane definitely looked closer than 850 feet, what to make of this??

    Thanks.

edit: I've now looked at some airplanes in Google earth from about 240 meters up, and it does look as if that may have been the approximate distance.

    Looked scary close though.

Unless your eyesight is more accurate than a ruler or the aircraft altimeters, I'm sure the actual seperation was "normal".

(text removed, previous post was posted twice, this took forever because of the wikpedia link, and then the 30 second delay thing..)
