  • Non-RPI Linux software installation - is it possible?

    Hi,

I wish to upgrade one of my receivers from Windows 7 to a linux mint installation so it will include MLAT but, I can only find instructions for raspberry pi. Is there a step by step guide or should I follow the raspberry pi instructions on a Mint Linux x86 system? - There is some suggestion that this is possible however nothing specific. Any help appreciated.

    Under linux tab... https://www.flightradar24.com/share-your-data

    Same functionality/usage, different package types

It depends entirely on the OS installed. If you are doing so outside of a plug-in-and-work Pi and the script they provide it's expected that you already have some experience in configuring the different OS and loading packages.

In this case, for the likes of Debian it's install the app from the downloaded package
You can install it using sudo dpkg -i /path/to/deb/file followed by sudo apt-get install -f.
And then running the setup script like any other post-installed FR24 to avoid requesting a 2nd key

Thanks. Must be an age thing 66yrs old and still playing with PCs!

        Anyway,

For anybody else here is an outline of what it took to get to the "Enter your email address" part.

        1) from 'flightradar24.com/share-your-data' address (as fully shown in an above reply by Oblivian) hit the Linux tab.
        2) select the DEB option (easiest to install) and ownload.
        3) from file manage open the Downloads folder and right click on the file (at the time of writing it was 'frfeed_....i386.deb)
        4) select open with GDebi package installer - and wait for it to finish.
        5) open a terminal and type 'fr24feed --signup' NOTE if you get a permission error goto step 6
        6) cd /etc
        7) sudo chmod 777 fr24feed.ini NOTE I used 777 to get it going, BUT this may be going too far...
        8) cd
        9) retry step 5.

This was done on the latest linux MINT.

If admin want to move a copy of this to somewhere more appropriate pls do so - and possible delete the 'Is it possible' part of the header.

Apart from MLAT all seems ok, does anybody have a cure for this? (apart from disabling the feature) ??

Beleive it may only be bundled pi version that does still. But doesn't stop you uninstalling, putting it back BUT configure for avrtcp/beast tcp (not dvbt) and instead installing dump1090 yourself

Changing to dvbt will break it again..

It's only on a test set up, for new antenna designs, may try later. THanx for the reply and your time, rgds.
