  • Military grid pattern?

So I found this aircraft today a king air 200 with a blocked reg running a grid pattern at 15350 ft. It took off and landed at OQU which is a mixed military and civilian airport in Rhode Island. The other Day I noticed a cessna 210 running the same grid but only over Marthas Vineyard. Very odd...Anybody have any insight?blocked.jpg

Looks like a standard aerial photographic survey pattern. The callsign may just be blocked at the request of the owner. They may do all sorts of surveys, including for the mining/resources sector, who are understandably reluctant to let competitors know what they are up to.
