  • Aircraft-info when not ADS-B.

First, I have no idea where to post this, so please move the post to the correct forum.

When a plane is not broadcasting with ADS-B equipment, and is tracked with MLAT, where do the to/from-info come from? Same with aircraft-type, registration etc. Is it inbuilt in the squawk?

All transponders have an ID sent with each responce. Regardless if including gps data. This is where the reg and types are tied to.

To/from is reported from either callsign (known info) or previous use of that callsign. In some cases estimated based on first/last contact area to nearest airport.
