  • Volcanic eruption boundaries - color meaning

    Hi,
in the weather tab I select the volcanic eruption display. It shows me the area where aviation is affected. So far it is clear for me.
Can somebody explain me the different colors showed there, grey green, red and yellow?
Just now sitting in Bali and waiting for flying back home.
    Thanks,
    Peter

      Thanks!
These codes I know. It is just funny that the areas with the respective colors are more or less the same overlay.
I thought they could mean VA activity in different FL, but the Advisory says only from SFC to FL250.
      Anyhow, thanks!

From their Blog update yesterday I think it may be a bit broken in-app version. And as you find, layering all current alerts ontop of each other.

New version will look like this:Capture.JPG

Ahhh that makes sense. Although there is also a grey colored area. Could be the past area?
          Thanks anyway!

According to FR24's twitter account, grey seems to be the current area of the ash cloud: https://twitter.com/flightradar24/st...89426960076803

Sorry for being late to the party!

Regarding the colour codes for the ash cloud, the meaning is as follows, just in case:

Gray - The current ash area
Green - The first forecast ash area (usually +6 hours)
Yellow - The second forecast ash area (usually +12 hours)
Red - The third forecast ash area (usually +18 hours)
