Vacations - please stop penalising feeders

    Folks

When I'm at home, with rare exceptions, I feed FR24 24/7.

When I go on vacation, which I do several times a year, I shut down my home PC.

Almost as soon as I stop feeding FR24, my account drops from "Business" to "Gold" - after 7 days, it drops to nothing.

Oddly enough, when I'm away from home (and not feeding FR24), that's when I'm at a distant airport and really need FR24 coverage.

Please give your supporters a break and allow them to go on vacation for a couple of weeks without penalising them.

    Thanks
    Simon

Have you considered an RPi based feed? Low cost, low maintenance and can be left online 24x7x365.

Radarcape also works fine for 24/7/365 for uploading to FR24.

At 15 times the cost of a DVB-T/RPi combination. Hardly low cost.

Why are we talking about cost of things?

    Read and ye shall find.

Why pay 800 Euros for a "back-up" alternative when one can achieve the same result, an on-going FR24 Business account, for a fraction of the cost?

Or are you hi-jacking this thread to promote the Radarcape?

The OP wasn't talking about costs. Only Anmer was!

Flightradar24 does promote the radarcape product.

The OP was talking about losing his FR24 Business account when he's away on vacation. I proposed a low cost, low maintenance back-up that could maintain Simon's feed while he's away, assuming FR24 isn't agreeable to extending the "off-line" time.

I'll let others decide if the Radarcape is a viable alternative.

It's best to give all/other options to the person and not just one type of product.
