Strange holding pattern

I've been meaning to ask about this for a while. This was back in mid-2016:

I'm sure this is not some glitch as FlightAware showed the exact same track.

The pattern seems quite "erratic", I normally don't see anything like it. Does anyone know exactly why? I notice there are more circuits than normal also.

EDIT: It was VS42 6th June 2016 for anyone who wants to look back at the history.

The pilot was maybe hand flying the hold for practice.
