Feed setup for a newbie

Hi!

I want to set up a FR24feed. I have read about it but I am a little comfused.

I will use:
1) Raspberry Pi 3
2) Roof antenna like coaxial collinear antenna for ADS-B Receiver with app. 10-15 meters cable
3) ADS-B usb dongle

Does any type of dongle work, or is it a specific?

The cable might be pushing it, high frequency has higher loss the further you go unless you go super insulated

Stick needs to contain a RTL2832/R820T chipset. That covers at least up to 1200mhz or greater

Don't forget a good 2-2.5A power supply.

You may find some mention the following chipsets.. steer clear.

Fitipower FC0013 22 – 1100 MHz
Fitipower FC0012 22 – 948.6 MHz
FCI FC2580 146 – 308 MHz and 438 – 924 MHz (gap in between)

Our target range is 1090Mhz, and these are not wide enough for it to work well

Cheap dongles under 10 USD, use NOOELEC or similar with R820T2 chipset. T2 provides around 10% better ADSB performance.

The best stick currently available are the FlightAware Prosticks. They can of course be used also for FR24. 15-20% better than a T2 stick depending on RF environment and antenna.
