  • Sometimes it's a tradeoff between receiving very close and very distant aircraft.

    Normally i recommend 1% to 5% Messages >-3dB.

That's also what my automatic gain adjustment adjusts to, it's included in the bundle below but also can be installed separately (only for dump1090-fa).

    • After about 1 hour I am showing 31% of my messages with signal strength -3dB or higher. I do live quite close to an airport, but it is not the busiest [in the UK] so suspect I am running with too much gain. I was after more distant aircraft so suspect I should be a bit higher in the > -3dB section.

Looking at my 1st to 3rd quartile, these look a little high to be using the dynamic range of the receiver (Flight Aware stick with filters) to it's best advantage.

      1st to 3rd extends from -3dB to -15dB, mean is -6.1dB.

      • It quite depends but i would imagine that the range won't go down when you reduce the gain by 5.

The range will only significantly decrease once the weakest signal is around -25 to -30.

But i'd just go with the standalone graphs (but i'm biased as i work on them)

But i mean, the hardware behind.
                  Antenna? Filter? Etc

The results plotted in the form of graphs are combined performance of:

                    Antenna + Coax cable + Filter + LNA + DVB-T + Gain Setting

                    • Think you forgot probably one of the most important aspects: Antenna location / location.

Yes location/antenna location is very important, but he asked about hardware

                        • IZ8292SWL:
Using the script in the first post of this thread to install graphs one has to installs web portal. The web portal includs PHP, MySQL and Graphs. This is unnecessary and is buggy.

Recently wiedehopf has written a script which installs "graph-only", no PHP, no MySQL, and no web portal. It can be installed very easily by copy-pasting the following script in your SSH console. I strongly recomment this for installing graphs.

                          Code:
                          sudo bash -c "$(wget -q -O - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/wiedehopf/graphs1090/master/install.sh)"
For details see this page: https://github.com/wiedehopf/graphs1...ster/README.md

                            Hi!
I'm using Graphs1090 and it's a great tool! But don't get any system stats, only ADSB data (the most importnat thing anyway...).
Is there something i can do?
I already tried to update the application using the method described in the Github page.

                            • This is really the wrong thread for this question, this is: https://forum.flightradar24.com/thre...1090-et-cetera

The system stats assume a Raspberry Pi system for the most part.
Please show the logs for graphs1090 as described here https://github.com/wiedehopf/adsb-wi...Debug-commands
And put the answer in the other appropriate thread.
