  • Flightradar receiver blocked in endless boot loop

    Hi All,

Posting this to the forum as FR24 support takes some time to respond.

Since a few month now my receiver has trouble to boot, it just sits on the table and does nothing. Everytime we have power outage it takes a very long time to boot. The first time it took about 2hours, then 4 hours, then a day. Now it refuses to boot since last saturday!

What I tried without any success so far :
    - Different power supply
    - Other network cable
    - Let it cool down a few hours an try to boot again
    - Checked that I have outbound NTP connectivity.

By looking at my router I can see the following sequence that repeats itself endlessely. This is the FR24 receiver bringing it ethernet port up and down, asking for DHCP lease and releasing the lease after about 1 minute.
    Code:
    Wed Aug 3 21:34:46 2016 kern.info kernel: [211555.910000] Atheros AR8216/AR8236/AR8316 ag71xx-mdio.0:00: Port 5 is down

I have 4 computers attached to the same router, they all run flawlessly.

    Any ideas?

The Ethernet port failed on my FR24 receiver and I've heard of others with a similar problem.

Have you contacted FR24 Support directly? How long have you been waiting? Do you have a Support Ticket number?

I'm surprised you're not getting a response as it's in FR24's interest that its receiver is working.

        Hi All,

I have contacted support via email. I have a ticket number : #124058
All I've been ask so far is to power on/off the receiver. Just got another email telling me to do so.
All the information contained in this topic have been submitted to the support. I do think the ethernet port is dead as Anmer is suggesting.

Edit : Olga, did you drop me an email?
        Edit 2 : Answering Olga's email got me a second ticker #125982

If your first Support ticket was #124058 and Olga's was #125982, that's a lot of tickets in 72 hours = 641 per day. When did you get the first ticket number?

FR24 support can remotely check your Ethernet port.

I got the first ticket number on July 22nd.

I doubt FR24 will be able to check the remote port remotely as the receiver keeps on asking for a DHCP lease and releasing it a few seconds later...

Yes, but by attempting the check it should confirm a fault.

July 22nd? I make that 14 days and no reply to a reported fault with one of its own receivers. That's not great Support.

I got replies in between, but that did not help. in between those 14 days the receiver came back to live shortly. Now it is offline since 1 week. Somehow I have the feeling that FR24 support does not track if they already have a ticket open for a given receiver...

I think I present a similar problem, the receiver needs a long time to assign an IP address, and the strangeness comes from the LAN port in which the lights go on, even without the RJ45 connection, then restart the receiver without the connection rj45 but equally the LED lights are lit,

Hasn't FR24 Support fixed the receiver yet?

Ask for an extension while they fix the receiver.
