    I think it is the most common and easy setup:
    Software = Raspbian via the NOOBS-Image (https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/) and fr24 via https://www.flightradar24.com/raspberry-pi
    Hardware = rpi3 with usb DVB-T dongle RPiReceiver.jpg

    Hi Chris - response is doesn't support scanning?

    pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo iwlist wlan0 scan
    wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning.

    I tried both.
    Wired was just plug`n play.
    Wifi (rpi3 comes with wifi default on) I had to connect to my network via the gui from raspbian
    rpi_wifi_gui.jpg
    or via the terminal
    rpi_wifi_terminal.png

    Folks, Thanks for all the help. Turns out, my RPI3 was bad - I tried a new one - with same image and it worked, I'll return the defective unit to Amazon. thanks for all the help - I learned a lot.
