  • Using a normal satellite dish as receiver

    Hello,

I would like to contribute to FR24 due to an almost perfect roof location but was wondering, if you are able to use a "normal" satellite dish to receive ADS-B data?

They are directional and designed for 2x the frequency. I doubt one would be efficient. The default head wound not be powered or work either

Have you seen a needle? Dish is for satellite, pointing it up to the sky is like looking for a pin hole to pass and hit the satellite.. Its a directional type of antenna, not good for adsb..

If you have the satellite dish on the roof, think about adding a home built antenna on the pole of the satellite dish? I did that, works well.
