There are allot of factors that play a role in this kind of situations.

When an aircraft gets below a certain height, you might lose signal because of the curviture of the earth, or because of high building between you and the AC. For example; I live 4 KM South of the EHRD airport (Rotterdam/The Hague Airport). When an AC gets below 60 meters for it's landing, I lose signal. Another example; all AC's passing over me with the direction Schiphol (Amsterdam Schiphol Airport), which is about 50 KM North of me. When an AC starts it's decent, I lose signal after it drops below 2.000 meters when it is about 30 KM North from me.
    • Free line of sight (buildings, trees, etc.)
    • Height for your receiver to compensate for the curviture for low flying AC's
    • Antenna gain

I believe this is because of the database FR24 uses for which planes are stationairy on which airports. This means that it "should" be there.

    Covered an non-covered areas

    Hello,
I've seen an aircraft shown on an airport which usually is not covered by FR24. So, I'm wondering whether there are more powerful ADS-B transmitter which allow some aircrafts to be detected in usually non-covered areas ? For example, I've seen a Cirrus SR22 departing from Cannes airport (LFMD/CEQ) whereas I've never seen an aircraft in this CTR...
Working...
