Ben.Originally posted by 1090 MHz View PostFerrite chokes are actually good for frequencies up to around 1000 MHz. It all depends of what type of material the ferrite bead is made from.
Ferrite beads are used for RF decoupling and parasitic suppression. When placed over a coaxial cable they prevent RF from flowing on the outside of the shield but do not affect the signal inside the cable.........

Super Antenna install .... seems to be working well. Picking up flights down to Indiana ... that's a new record!

By the way, I liked your photo on tower (as shadow).

Ive found that ferrites used as a choke (threaded onto coax outer) are of little use above 70cm (433Mhz)
YES there are ferrites that can operate to higher frequencies, but would require multiple turns THROUGH the ferrite - in this case there isnt even one turn !

Are big internal diameter ones available for 1000 MHz (material/mix 61) ????

Did anyone catch the Hamilton Skyfest Airshow?
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a WWII Avro Lancaster flying around on my ADS-B radar last night!
