Good work. I am sure this antenna will give you excellent results, and payback all the pains and care you have taken to construct it.

Ferrite beads are used for RF decoupling and parasitic suppression. When placed over a coaxial cable they prevent RF from flowing on the outside of the shield but do not affect the signal inside the cable.........

      • Super Antenna install .... seems to be working well. Picking up flights down to Indiana ... that's a new record!

Wow! Great installation of super antenna. Why not you plot receiver range on VRS after running it for couple of hours and post the screenshot?
By the way, I liked your photo on tower (as shadow).

          • Ive found that ferrites used as a choke (threaded onto coax outer) are of little use above 70cm (433Mhz)

YES there are ferrites that can operate to higher frequencies, but would require multiple turns THROUGH the ferrite - in this case there isnt even one turn !

Are big internal diameter ones available for 1000 MHz (material/mix 61) ????

              • Bead type are also commonly used

Glad you like the "Shadow" photo! I've been testing the new Super Antenna the past few days and I have to say I'm really happy with the results. For an antenna that I built from scratch, with just the calculations, its got great sensitivity both high up in the sky and right down to the ground at the airport.

                  • Did anyone catch the Hamilton Skyfest Airshow?

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a WWII Avro Lancaster flying around on my ADS-B radar last night!

Oh, I missed it. Was it in Burlington?

Thanks guys. Both the Hamilton Airshow & FR24 playback pages were very interesting.
I have forgotten that FR24 has a playback capability.

                              • I believe the Canadian Lancaster is rumoured to be coming to the Fairford Air show next month.
