The specs show that it is a very good & professional antenna. It is worh investing for those who want a professional system.

As far as I am concerned, I am not willing to burn couple of $100 bills for it, as I can find better uses of this money. I prefer to design & built antennas myself.

I'd like one too, preferably not at my expense.

You have to wait till Chinese start manufacturing these. Then you will be able to get it at current European/North American price divided by ten

That antenna probably costs 2 grand.... it's got FAA certification, and anything that has strict government and military specs is always pricey. But at the same time you want to be assured it's going to work in all situations when it's being used by ATC.

For Military, country's freedom & lives of it's ciizen are at stake. For Air Trafic Control, lives of passengers & crew are on stake. They therefore go for the most stringent specs to get best perforamce and Maximum Reliability even in the worst condiions. To meet these requiremens, the cost shoots up exponentially. But looking at the stakes, the obvious choice is to pay that price.

For hobbyists, nothing is at stake, and it is illogical to pay such a high price, except when the hobbyist has won first prize of a lottery or has hit a jackpot in a casino :-)

Then he would buy himself this 2_31.jpg and place it in the nearest ATC tower
                I would....

I don't think the wax-whip antennas on the table would be very effective.

                      • HOW TO MAKE A POWER INSERTER
USING A TV CABLE SPLITTER, AN INDUCTOR & A CAPACITOR

                        Step 1 of 4 - Obtain an ordinary 2-Way TV/Cable Splitter
Do NOT waste your money on good quality costly Splitter,
as you are going to use only the housing of the Splitter.
Purchase the cheapest one you can find.
The good quality costly ones have component mounted on a printed board inside,
                        which you will throw away.

Step 2 of 4 - Remove the back cover of Splitter

Step 3 of 4 - Remove all parts inside the Splitter

Step 4 of 4 - Solder the Ceramic Capacitor & Axial Inductor to the 3 available pins
