  • A glitch?

Hope this is the right subforum...

I noticed an "aircraft" at FL600 hovering around a celltower in North Carolina (Lat/long: 35.2427 -82.4356). It shows no callsign on FR24, only a mode S ID "FAA767

It's back again tonight, anyone have a clue what might be causing this? Seems odd the cell tower would be transmitting interference that causes phantom mode S data.

      Hi TUL584,

I was unable to see this aircraft myself, however occasionally authorities will use stationary ADS-B transmitters for testing or to warn aircraft of an obstacle such as a tower/mountains etc... As these are usually temporary Flightradar24 believe's they're an aircraft as the transmission is legitimately picked up.

I believe that this is the most likely explanation however if you continue to spot it, please write to support@fr24.com and we'll see if we can block it

Thanks! I was just curious if anyone knew of a possible cause.
