  • Strange signal on FR24

Anyone any idea what "test1234" east of the isle of Wight is? It's been there a few days, not moving and it says picked up by F-EGKK1
Could be a real test, but it's showing in the sea and it would seem a long way at zero feet for it to be picked up by a Gatwick station.

It's a beacon on : NAB TOWER LH (MMSI: 992351136)

Yes it may be Nab tower but why would an AIS marine beacon appear on FR24? A different system.
It's weird. Maybe FR24 are going to start overlaying marine traffic?

AIS works on 161.975 (channel 1) en 162.025 MHz (channel 2). So, I don't think there is a relation with ADS-B.

There are, around the world, several stations with "test1234". (f.e. I see sometimes one on JFK (hex : ADFBDE; with a line to SEA (Seatle), on LGW (Gatwick, hex : 43BFBC) and in Australia)

Are they there for reference tests ? Triangular calculation ? ..... If U like, i can study on that. Can be interesting.
