  • Southern African Radar

    Hi All,

Great to see that coverage around southern Africa is increasing nicely. Just recently Beira (Mozambique) and Harare (Zimbabwe) have come on line. This gives great continuous coverage coverage from Cape Town quite far up the eastern seaboard of southern Africa. West coast coverage is all the way up to Luanda (Angola).

Just a reminder to those interested that there is a forum for southern African radar interests at www.radarbox.co.za. Look forward to welcoming you there.

Slowly but surely Southern Africa is getting there. Albeit we still have a few gaps, thinking about Maun in Botswana to color in the map even more. Those charter companies in Maun (Bush Pilots series on Discovery) would make an ideal hosting location for some kind of receiver, with a few routes routes running over there (routes shown on http://skyvector.com/). Also something based at Francistown, Botswana will result in rather neat coverage of Southern Africa. So come one, who can light the ADS-B fire for us up there in Botswana?

We just need to get all the feeders in South Africa to try for better up-time / feeding time, not falling off the map after a few weeks, like some are doing. Thinking about George (FAGG), also missing Upington the past few days, and maybe starting something in East London and Polokwane.
